Research Report: Global LED market in 2008 will be more than $56 billion

ChinaByte news, the U.S. market research firm Communications Industry Researchers (CIR) predicted that within 5 years of the global LED market will grow from $3 billion 200 million in 2004, increased to $5 billion 600 million in 2008.

A new CIR report pointed out that after 2006 the high brightness LED (or HB-LED) - especially the high brightness LED (also called UHB-LED), the growth rate of sales is extremely alarming. HB-LE to revenue in 2008 is estimated to reach $2 billion 640 million, while UHB-LED is expected to account for 22% of the global LED market.

CIR said: general lighting will be the mainstream of the future, is expected to reach $844 million in 2008." Analysts are expected next year will be an important key to the development of LED: because of a significant reduction in costs, the number is bound to surge."

At present, the standard and indicator lamp LED accounted for the bulk of shipments, but the future of HB-LED and UHB-LED will be significant revenue.

The report concluded that, in the period 2004-2008, cars, lights and backlight applications will account for 60% of market sales.
