SHARP and Hiroshima County research laboratory develop LED moth bulb

[LED] Chinese Vtion Sharp Co recently announced that Japan has with the Hiroshima County Center for Agricultural Technology Research Institute to develop LED drive moth lamp, in order to prevent the nocturnal pest damage crops, and reduce the impact of light on crops as far as possible.

The traditional moth lamp uses yellow lights to repel moths. However, traditional mercury vapor lamps and fluorescent lights must be irradiated all night long, and are not suitable for certain light sensitive crops, such as strawberries and chrysanthemums, which are not conducive to the growth of such plants.

The new LED moth bulb combines the farm center's moth lighting technology and Sharp Co's LED design and manufacturing technology. It can effectively repel moths and minimize the adverse effects of lights on plants through LED technology.

The use of LED as a light source not only prolongs the service life of lamps, reduces energy consumption, but also improves the effect of moth suppression. In addition, LED lights can greatly reduce the adverse effects of light on light sensitive plants, and are ideal for pesticide free farming and light sensitive crops.

The bulbs are expected to go on sale in the spring of 2016 and begin retail. (translation / Chinese LED net Flora)
