SHARP said it would invest $1 billion 450 million to build a new LCD panel factory

January 12th news sources said the Reuters, the world's largest LCD TV maker SHARP (LCD) said on Wednesday that it will spend 150 billion yen ($1 billion 450 million), the construction of advanced LCD factory, to improve production performance, to meet the rapidly increasing demand.

SHARP said the new plant plans to put into operation in October 2006. The new factory is located in the SHARP Kameyama plant flag.

SHARP said that the new plant will use the most advanced eight generation substrate, the cost is more than the other use of the fifth generation, the sixth generation or even the Asian counterparts of the seventh generation to save.

LCD manufacturers can reduce the production cost by using larger substrates to cut more panels.
