It is reported that STMicroelectronics (ST) launched three LED backlight and lighting with a single chip boost converter, models were LED7706, LED7707 and. PM6600 has also entered the mass production, LED7706, LED7707 and PM6600 can provide 30mA or 85mA current, can drive six lines, each line up to 10 white LED display matrix.
LED7706, LED7707 and PM6600 optimized for mobile devices are integrated on the chip MOSFETs in order to reduce the number of parts; new product switching frequency up to 1MHz, the number of filters can be reduced to a minimum.
The output voltage of the output current of 30mA LED7706 and 85mA LED7707 are 36V, can provide a LED backlight driver for the maximum single chip LCD panel 17 inch solution. The chip also has an external synchronization pin that is connected to the additional element when the larger size of the display panel is driven. The 85mA output current of the LED7707 can also meet the requirements of the LED lighting device used alone.
PM6600 is part of the ST PM66xx product family, which provides a complete power management solution for notebook computers and super mobile computers (UMPC). Six 36V 30mA constant current output, can meet the needs of large size notebook display panel. Like the first two products, the PM6600 also provides an external sync pin to drive the larger size of the display board.
PM6600 also has the function of fault processing, when the display of the flexible cable or LED light group failure, can control the display backlight circuit operation. PM6600 can also detect intermittent fault, LED short circuit, single line or multi line LED circuit breaker, concurrent fault, these functions support the field fault tolerant operation, and can help technicians for equipment maintenance. PM6600 input voltage range from 4.5V to 28V.
LED7706, LED7707 and PM6600 have a power saving mode, under low load conditions, can make the performance to achieve optimal, and its PWM dimming duty cycle (duty cycle) as low as 1%. Each product has a ceramic output capacitor to ensure the stability of the output current while reducing the cost of materials. The chip also has the functions of overheating, overload, over voltage and over current protection of MOSFET. The 4 x 4mm size, 24 pin VFQFPN package, is a small area solution. The chip also has the soft-start function, can extend the life of the backlight circuit to the maximum.
