Shenzhen enterprises set up LED patent alliance to deal with foreign monopoly

The Chinese led enterprises in the overseas experience in patent litigation in the enterprise is increasing, the day before, the first to be set up China LED patent technology industry alliance - Shenzhen LED Patent Alliance preparatory meeting held in Shenzhen, more than 70 LED companies get together, and relates to the field of LED chip, lighting, backlight, display etc..

It is reported that, in the core of LED patented technology, especially white light, high power LED lamp thermal balance problem, persistent and efficient fluorescent powder and other key patents, has been European, American, Japanese manufacturers monopoly. The foreign manufacturers in the upper reaches of the patented technology to control, become its overseas market to suppress the Chinese LED manufacturers' weapon". Compared to the LED upstream core patent concentration and wide coverage, the downstream application level patent is relatively decentralized. The technical advantages of LED companies in China are concentrated in the downstream application and integration, and has accumulated a large number of patents. But Shenzhen LED Industry Association executive vice president Gui Shirong pointed out that the patent of a single Chinese LED companies still have limitations, it is difficult to form a joint force in the market expansion, the effect of patent applications is not obvious.

Gui Shirong said that members of the LED patent alliance will build a unified enterprise intellectual property management system, to avoid the development of enterprises, redundant construction. Alliance members can be cross licensed to form a patent pool. On the one hand, it can reduce the authorized price of the core patent; on the other hand, it can reduce the cost of the enterprise through the application of a number of patents.

In the patent war with foreign LED manufacturers, the patent pool will have a stronger bargaining power. Gui Shirong pointed out that after the establishment of the patent alliance, the plan will be a unified 'patent pool', with upstream core patent manufacturers to discuss patent cross licensing issues.
