Should the new street lamp be equipped with electric car charging pile? British Minister of transportation

Chris Grelling (Chris Grayling), the director of the British Transportation Bureau, said the new street lights should be equipped with a standard electric vehicle charging pile.

He announced that the new proposal aims to make electric cars more easy to charge, rather than fuel gasoline cars or diesel cars.

According to the proposal, if there is a parking space near the street lamp, the street lamp should have a built-in electric vehicle charging pile.

The proposed measures mean that the UK will have "the world's most comprehensive support program to achieve zero car emissions", Grayling said.

He said the award is not only a cleaner and healthier environment, but a British economy that is suitable for the future, and has a chance to win a large part of the 2050 market with a value of up to 7 trillion and 600 billion pounds.

Many British local authorities have taken steps to combine street lighting networks with charging piles.

London, Wandsworth, Richmond, Hounslow, Westminster, and K - King & shaasea both conducted experiments, some of which were new street lamps, and others were existing lamps. But Grayling believes that the country needs a strategy to push the technology.

However, the test also has a series of problems: the use of street lamps for electric cars will have technical, practical and interoperability problems. Although the conversion of existing street lamps to LED can achieve free current carrying capacity for battery charging, it is obvious that special high current circuits are needed to provide drivers with the required quick charging time.

In addition, national policies need to coordinate the various platforms that have already emerged in the streets. Some local governments are providing free systems, while other governments are working with private sector suppliers. For example, the Kensington and Chelsea committees signed an agreement with the energy company Ovo and the German technology company ubitricity to install 50 charging piles on a street lamp. These street lamps use the proprietary SimpleSockets technology of ubitricity, so the driver must use the ubitricity cable connector. (Editor: LED network James)
