Survey: future lighting market prospects?

With the decline in hardware prices, LED applications in the lighting market. Most of the lighting industry believes that, in addition to household products, smart lighting and related systems and equipment, is becoming the future growth of the product category. During the October 2015 meeting of the Hongkong International Lighting Exhibition, trade of the Hongkong Trade Development Council conducted a questionnaire survey, interview 383 buyers and 262 exhibitors, asking their views on the next few years the market prospect and the trend of the lighting industry.

2016 Market Outlook: maintain stability

Exhibition, about 86% of respondents surveyed and 90% of respondents expected exhibitors, sales in 2016 unchanged or increased. The percentage of respondents with the same view of the market outlook for the April 2015 spring lighting fair. However, it is worth noting that, compared with the previous survey, the 2016 sales are expected to remain unchanged (compared with 2015), the proportion of respondents increased, while the proportion of sales is expected to decline. The growth prospects of individual markets, all markets have been more neutral (3 points) as a high score, indicating that respondents generally positive view of the market for overseas lighting products. As in previous surveys, the mainland is still the most promising market for the next two years, followed by Western Europe, ASEAN, North America, Taiwan, other Asian countries and Australia / Pacific islands.

System products become hot

In terms of products, in all respondents, 26% believe that LED and related environmental lighting is the most growth potential of the product category in 2016, followed by other household lighting products (accounting for 20%). However, the lighting system with a large number of intelligent lighting and lighting programs, commercial lighting and outdoor lighting also received a higher rating, accounting for 15% of all respondents, respectively, 14% and 13%.

The above situation, it is estimated that in part because of the decline in the price of LED, the growing popularity of lighting products, and low power consumption and longer life characteristics, but also help to expand the scope of application of LED lighting. Intelligent lighting into the new darling of the industry

Among the respondents, 43% expect to be able to communicate with the smart phone / tablet PC, or control of the home lighting system has the greatest potential for development in the industry. Followed by the main power saving, energy saving as the goal of home / industrial / commercial intelligent lighting system, in the respondents, 40% of this view.
