TI latest OLED driver can significantly improve the quality of 2.5 inch display

TI (TI) announced the launch of a significant improvement in the quality of 2.5 inch display of small organic light-emitting diode (OLED) power supply, which can fully meet the needs of the development of new display technology. TPS65136 power IC can support active matrix OLED (AMOLED) displays for mobile phones, digital cameras and portable media players.

AMOLED displays support for each pixel self luminous, which can achieve high color saturation, thin shape design, high contrast, fast response time and ultra-low power consumption and other outstanding features. The TI TPS65136 can supply the power supply of the AMOLED monitor by providing positive and negative voltage, and it also reduces the demand of current and voltage.

The number of components of the TPS65136 is reduced, only a 2.2 H inductor can be generated to generate dual output, single inductor multi output converter technology, to achieve a high image quality and smaller shape solutions. The device can generate a positive voltage of up to 4.6 V with a negative output voltage as low as -7 V through a buck boost topology. In addition, the TPS65136 input voltage can be higher or lower than the positive output voltage, thus supporting the starting voltage up to 4.8 V of new batteries.

Unique converter technology helps to achieve excellent line and load regulation, which can avoid the potential interference of mobile devices during transmission. In addition, the converter can reduce the switching frequency when the load current is reduced, so as to maintain the high efficiency of the whole load current range. TPS65136 uses the voltage controlled oscillator to keep the switching frequency higher than the range of the human ear perception, so as to avoid the noise caused by the vibration of the ceramic output capacitor.

In addition to TPS65136, TI also offers a wide range of OLED drive product family. TPS65130 and TPS65131 can provide efficient power supply for portable battery powered equipment, the total efficiency of up to 89%. These devices have an input voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, so that the TPS65130/1 can be directly powered by a lithium ion battery, a three NiMH/NiCd or alkaline battery. Since the converter requires only a few external components, this kind of voltage can be combined with the minimum switching frequency of 1.25 MHz to achieve the application of ultra small power supply.

TPS65136 and TPS65131 are now in mass supply and can be ordered through TI and its authorized distributors. TPS65136 and TPS65131 are available in a 16 lead QFN package, as well as a small, 4 mm x 4 mm 24 pin QFN package. In addition, the use of small 4 mm x 4 mm 24 pin QFN package TPS65130 has begun to supply, can be ordered through TI and its authorized distributors.
