TI (TI) announced the introduction of an input voltage up to 17V 16 channel 50mA constant current sink LED driver TLC5943. Enhanced frequency pulse width modulation integrated the device (PWM) can improve image quality and reduce flicker noise, which can satisfy the monochrome, multicolor and full-color LED display and LED billboards and display background lighting requirements.
In the TLC5943 16 channels, each channel has a separate adjustable 16 bit (65536 step) gray scale pulse width modulation (PWM) brightness control function, as well as automatic data refresh and display repeat function. These channels can be divided into four groups, each of which has an associated start-up delay to maximize system voltage stability. All 16 channels can be adjusted using the device's 7 bit brightness control function. The designer can use the same external resistor to set the maximum current value for all channels.
The brightness control function of the device can be accessed through the universal 30 MHz interface, and the average current level is adjusted to compensate for the luminance change from one LED to the next LED.
TLC5943 uses two error message circuits. The LED open circuit detection of the device can indicate that the output terminal has been damaged or disconnected from the LED. Temperature error flag indicates over temperature condition.
