TI single chip program Bluetooth 2.0+EDR certification

TI (TI) recently announced that its fifth generation Bluetooth solutions have Bluetooth Bluetooth specification v2.0 and SIG organization of higher data rate through (EDR) certification. This solution can provide the most rapid version of EDR, and can support rate as high as 3Mbps in Bluetooth Networks, bandwidth intensive applications for 2.5G and 3G on the mobile phone, including faster download MP3 files and digital photos etc..

In addition, TI also announced the launch of the BlueLink platform for mobile phones to provide a complete set of Bluetooth software and hardware solutions. As the first solution to the product line, BlueLink 5 can coexist with the TI mobile WLAN solution, consisting of a BRF6300 single chip Bluetooth solution and Bluetooth enabled software. The software includes TI BlueLink Bluetooth protocol stack and TI OMAP platform, GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA and UMTS chips to work together all the software needed. BlueLink 5 solution in line with the Bluetooth specification V2.0+EDR, has been providing samples.

In-Stat senior analyst Brian O said: "Rourke" Bluetooth network was powerful growth momentum in the mobile phone market, we expect that by 2008, the global mobile phone sold up to 58% phone using Bluetooth connectivity. The coexistence of WLAN and Bluetooth will be the key to future mobile phone."

TI is responsible for mobile connectivity solutions business unit Marc Cetto said: "with higher data rate and the development of the usability of the Bluetooth connection is becoming the manufacturers, operators and consumers for popular handheld terminal function. The introduction of TI BlueLink 5 platform to further confirm the TI in the WLAN and Bluetooth coexistence of strong strength." In order to help manufacturers accelerate the support of Bluetooth functionality of 2G, 2.5G and 3G mobile phone market time, BlueLink 5 single chip can be used to achieve the following leading features of the TI advanced manufacturing process and DRP technology 90:

Highest Bluetooth performance: support Bluetooth V2.0+EDR, maximum throughput rate of 3Mbps. The leading WLAN coexistence: through the shared antenna architecture and TI mobile WLAN solutions with a collaborative interface connection, and further improve the coexistence and interoperability with WLAN. TI launched in 2003 WLAN Bluetooth coexistence solution is currently on the market 18 mobile equipment has been widely applied in the. The industry's lowest power consumption: critical Bluetooth applications (such as page scanning and query scan) current size is only 100uA, 1/3 lower than the current solution. Minimum size: the size of the chip is reduced by 30% compared with the current solution, thus greatly reducing the board space of the Bluetooth system. The lowest cost: TI minimizes the cost of the solution by streamlining the list of materials (BOM).

In order to accelerate the development of Bluetooth handheld terminal, BRF6300 single chip can not only pin for pin compatible with fast upgrade TI and BRF6150, but also can be easily transplanted from BRF6150 to software similar software interface.
