The British island to spend 2 million pounds facelift LED Street

The British territory in the northernmost part of the West Midlands announced that it would spend 2 million pounds to replace LED street lights.

One of the most famous street lights in 5 years ago in the British isles.

The parliament announced a total of 3900 branch road lights and public facilities outside lighting, activity centers, ferry stations and terminals and other lighting. 5 years ago, the relevant units on the island equipped with a set of 6 LED street lamps for testing, after the normal operation of the lamps for 5 years. In addition, during this period have installed 125 LED street lamps to replace the traditional street lamp.

Dave, a local road administrator, noted that the lights on the west coast of the Coupe were old and badly damaged, with little maintenance. Most of the street lamps installed 25 years ago, and because of the long-term exposure to the island's climate, street lights appear varying degrees of wear and tear. Part of the street has been removed because of security considerations, but the existing maintenance budget is not enough to fully replace the new street lights.

In the Shetland Islands Council in October 2012 through a reduction in street mobility policy, in order to save electricity, the policy of "leaving only the most in need of lighting area of the street, to remove the other place of the street, and only in a specific period of time the night lights.

The preliminary design costs about 50 thousand pounds, and the entire street lighting project will cost $2 million 200 thousand.
