The International Energy Agency (IEA) wants to copy the India LED plan to Indonesia

According to the India daily (The Hindu) reported that the International Energy Agency (IEA) intends to try to replicate the implementation of the India LED bulb policy in Indonesia, in order to reduce the cost of efficient lighting technology. India through the national support of public utility company Energy Services Limited (EESL) launched a national LED upgrade program.

"EESL's LED program has been a success, and IEA is working with it to push the program to the world. "We want to try this model in Indonesia," said deputy director Paul Simons, speaking at the World Summit on sustainable development. "We think this is the best practice case to share," said IEA.

India's EESL has been buying LED bulbs in bulk to lower prices and to distribute light bulbs in accordance with the government's UJALA program, which has led to a steady decline in the price of LED bulbs over the past few years. The company's 2014 purchase of LED bulbs priced at 310 rupees (about $4.65), in March 2016 fell to 55 rupees. Compared with two years ago, LED bulb production capacity has increased from one million to forty million. Compared to incandescent bulbs, LED lamp power saving 80%.

Ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) minister Upendra Tripathy said at the meeting: "in 2022, India achieve 175 billion watt renewable energy targets will not be a problem. "

India also with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank (World Bank) and other financial institutions to negotiate, to provide funding for its large-scale LED upgrade projects.

India's finance minister, AshokLavasa, emphasizes the importance of energy conservation and energy efficiency, and points out that energy conservation is a more economical and inexpensive option. Lavasa said: we may be reaching a stage, renewable energy, especially solar energy, become cheap enough, distribution companies will begin to give priority to the purchase of conventional sources of energy. He added that any discussion of efficiency and conservation must be based on the availability, accessibility and affordability of energy in India.
