Recently, Intersil announced the launch of a high power integrated LED driver, which can be used to display backlight and body electronics, "ISL78100".
ISL78100 dedicated to withstand the harsh environment of automobile design is very flexible and can optimize the configuration for driving 1~8 bright LED, and can boost and buck or SEPIC (SEPIC) set in operation.
ISL78100 there are two ways to control the brightness level of LED features, one is through the DC bias current, or by using an external PWM signal to more accurately control the color temperature of the LED. In addition, designers can also choose from the ISL78100 integrated protection function. An error monitor with the input current partition can be used to disconnect the input power supply, which can be protected under overload conditions.
ISL78100 also has the characteristics of thermal compensation and a load isolation switch. The temperature compensation of the device greatly improves the service life of the LED, a built-in overheat control circuit monitors the thermistor voltage, and adjusts the bias current of the LED. This high integration allows designers to avoid the use of costly separation protection program. ISL78100 has an efficiency of up to 92%, so it can extend the battery life of various applications when the ignition switch is switched off.
ISL78100 uses AEC-Q100 rating, and is fully compatible with TS16949, including a higher process requirements for process capability evaluation index (CPK). ISL78100 rated operating range of automotive temperature range (-40 C ~+105 C), with a minimum of 4mm x x 0.9mm 20 pin QFN package, is the smallest integrated high power LED driver.
