The new technology of white LED driver can drive up to 10 LED

Linear Technology Corporation (Linear Technology Corporation) before the launch of high efficiency, constant current white LED driver LT3591 x 3mm using 2mm DFN package. The device integrates on-chip Schottky diodes to eliminate the extra cost and space required by the external diode. The unique high side LED current sensing topology allows the LED cathode to be grounded directly, thus forming a single line current source.

LT3591 drives up to 10 white LED with a single lithium ion battery at efficiencies above 78%. It switches to the 1MHz frequency, allowing the use of tiny inductors and capacitors, while maintaining the switching noise falls outside key RF band. LT3591 has a high efficiency, low noise and small overall solution for the board area, is very suitable for the use of up to 10 white LED backlighting applications.

The LT3591 operates in constant current source mode to ensure consistent LED brightness. The forward voltage drop of LED varies with the temperature, the manufacturing tolerance and the aging degree, but regardless of the LED forward voltage drop, LT3591 provides the same size of current for each white LED. The device True Color PWMTM dimming with a wide dimming range of up to 80:1. Other features include LED output voltage limiting and + 5% reference accuracy.
