The study found that Seoul semiconductor SunLike LED can reduce eye discomfort and improve sleep

Seoul semiconductor reports, a study shows that its "SunLike" LED can reduce the discomfort of the eyes and improve the quality of sleep.

The research team at the biomedical information laboratory at the Seoul National University School of medicine in South Korea concluded that using SunLike based lighting can greatly reduce eye discomfort and improve sleep quality compared to the traditional LED lighting source.

The participants were all adults, including graduate students from Seoul National University. Each participant used a desk lamp equipped with SunLike and a traditional LED lamp for 3 hours before sleeping. The team also conducted a survey and analyzed the vital signs of life measured by participants during sleep.

The assessment based on the subjective survey showed that the eye fatigue was significantly reduced and the quality of sleep improved significantly. The researchers also found that exposure to light before sleep can reduce the sleepiness after sleep, and the decrease is statistically significant.

According to the results of the analysis of vital signs, the time needed to fall asleep was 23%, and the time to wake up from sleep was increased by 43%. Therefore, the team believes that as an indicator of sleep quality, the efficiency of sleep increases from 88% to 94%.

"We conclude that these effects are due to the stability of the autonomic nervous system, which is the deactivation of the sympathetic nerve and the activity of the parasympathetic nerve based on SunLike lighting," the research team at the Seoul National University in South Korea said. In order to improve the biological rhythm, we can adjust the light according to the time zone and use the light source near the sun.
