The traditional lamp shipments decline of HID lamp is refers to is not high

[LED] - National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) for the U.S. Department of energy (DOE) proposed in December 2, 2015 the decision agreed, DOE said, the current high intensity discharge lamp (HID) energy saving standard technical feasibility is not high or not cost-effective. And DOE believes that improving the energy efficiency of HID lights on the United States to help reduce carbon energy is also not helpful.

HID lamps are widely used in street lamps and large indoor and outdoor area lighting, is a special and a variety of lamps, including metal halide lamp (metalhalide) and high pressure sodium lamp (high-pressure sodium light). Over the past five years, DOE has been careful to analyze early technologies, and to determine the effectiveness of HID lamps in accordance with the results of the energy-saving effect has not been confirmed. The latest analysis of DOE pointed out that with the introduction of new technologies, especially solid-state lighting, HID has gradually been replaced. Therefore, the market trend of HID products is changing.

NEMA president and CEO Kevin Cosgriff said: we are very pleased to see DOE cautious interpretation of market conditions, consumer welfare, the pressure of manufacturers and the evolution of lighting technology. MENA expressed support for the conclusions of the DOE, that the HID into the energy-saving lamp specification does not help the public. "

Traditional lighting shipments decline

Among the other two press releases, NEMA notes that sales of HID lamps and fluorescent tubes are steadily declining.

NEMA HID light shipments decline since the third quarter of 2015. Sodium lamp shipments compared to the same period last year (Year on Year) declined by 12.3%, while mercury lamp was reduced by more than the same period last year, to 16.3%, compared to the same period last year, metal halide lamp decreased by 14.5%.

In the third quarter of 2015, sales of all metal discharge lamps were up to 3.7%, and mercury lamp and metal halide lamp were about 33.2% and 63.1% respectively.

The third quarter of 2015, NEMA fluorescent lamp shipments report out volume continued to show a downward trend in shipments compared with 2014. The T12 lamps in the third quarter of 2015 has been the second consecutive quarter of decline in shipments, down by up to 40.4% in. T8 and T5 lamp sales also continued to decline, respectively, 10.9% and 10.6%.

In the third quarter of 2015, T8 accounted for all of the fluorescent lamp shipments of, while the proportion of T12 accounted for 15.5%, compared to T5 lamp is 10.9%.
