U.S. lawmakers to support the DOE solid state lighting energy star standards

9 members of the Congress of the United States to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) director Lisa Jackson a letter urging EPA to stop with the U.S. Department of energy (DOE) between the "continuing conflict": a residential solid-state lighting products for Energy Star standards.

This letter, excerpts as follows, requires Jackson should be withdrawn as soon as possible EPA SSL Energy Star standard.

The US Congress has issued a statement, so we are trying to see when and how EPA will respond.

The United States Congress wrote to EPA as follows:

"We are writing this letter to urge you to quickly resolve the conflict with the United States Department of energy, a residential solid-state lighting (SSL) products, energy star standard, often referred to as" LED ", EPA SSL cancel lighting energy star standards as soon as possible.

We recognize and appreciate EPA's long-term leadership in the Energy Star program, and we believe that EPA's SSL energy star standards are designed to match the energy star mission. However, the current situation is that the two federal agencies have published their own energy star standard, which is not established. Overlapping energy star standards in the industry will produce uncertainty and confusion is a threat to the United States in the development of the industry's leadership, if the two energy star standards continue, integrity will may weaken the energy star brand.

Solid state lighting industry in the future is very promising. 2006, high brightness LED lighting market reached $205 million by 2011, is expected to grow to about $1 billion. Currently, the United States has a dominant position in the industry. Because energy star certification is an important step in any commercial new energy saving technology, in the end, there must be an agency to take the lead, so as not to weaken the key role of the SSL industry in its development.

We have come to the conclusion that DOE should be based on the 2005 Energy Policy Act (Energy Policy Act of) 912nd (b) section of the instructions to manage SSL Energy Star program, and experts in the SSL industry investment.

Play key role in EPA and the Energy Star Program in the United States manufacturing more energy-efficient products, and continue to play its important role in national efforts, in order to achieve energy independence and reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and create good jobs for americans. In order to maintain the overall interests of the energy star brand and to support the U.S. leadership in the solid-state lighting industry, we urge you to comply with DOE's SSL Energy Star standard.
