But have you ever seen UFO lights floating in the sky? A Holland based company designed a UFO maglev table lamp for a big hole, and LUNALUXX brought the UFO home.

Futuristic design

Working principle

The LUNALUXX table lamp employs two important technologies: magnetic levitation and long distance fluorescence

magnetic suspension

The permanent magnet containing an electromagnetic induction coil is suspended by the force of the magnetic material. The lampshade at the top of the LUNALUXX lamp contains an electromagnetic induction coil, and a permanent magnet is mounted in the middle of the flying saucer. The current through the electromagnetic induction coil lamp, controlled by a special switch, and 1000 times per second speed measurement and change the current, then the current will affect the attractiveness of the permanent magnet so that the UFO, UFO has been suspended in midair.

Remote fluorescence technique

Typically, there are two ways to make LED emit white light, while phosphor is one of the most important components. The flying saucer in the LUNALUXX table lamp is filled with fluorescent powder. The LED tube in the base emits a blue beam, absorbed by the fluorescent powder in the flying saucer, and emits white lights again and again. And this "far distance fluorescence lighting technology", the team has applied for patent. (the blue beam in the picture is added for the sake of more intuitive expression, which is invisible in reality.)

LUNALUXX uses only a blue LED tube and very efficient fluorescent powder, which consumes much less power than an ordinary desk lamp. The power consumption is only 4 watts, equivalent brightness 15-20 watt incandescent lamp, but the light is soft, suitable for reading, playing mobile phone or night lamp.
