United Arab Emirates banned low efficiency lamps and lanterns in July 1st

The order of the United Arab Emirates to ban the sale of inefficient lamps and lanterns will come into force in July 1st. The move is expected to save 106 million 800 thousand of the energy cost per year. The ban is part of the United Arab Emirates' indoor lighting standards.

The main focus is to ban the low efficiency incandescent light source. The new standards will be based on environmental, safety and efficiency indicators. ?

Part of the standard also includes the limits of mercury. Any lamp, including a compact fluorescent lamp or a light-emitting diode, has a mercury content exceeding the permitted level and will not get into the country. ?

The ban will be particularly targeted at the United Arab Emirates, which are not producing and relying on imported lighting products, which are expected to reduce 940000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to 165000 car emissions.
