Who will the GE lighting fall? The final bid and the outcome of the negotiation will be delivered in September

It is reported that the GE company is expected to complete the installation of intelligent lighting systems in Santiago over the next one or two months, known as the "world's largest municipal network of things".

GE Current started to invest 30 million 300 thousand dollars in Santiago earlier, upgrading Santiago's 14 thousand street lamps to efficient LED lights to speed up the intelligent development of the city.

The load sensor's streetlight will be connected to the wireless network, which contains 3200 smart sensor nodes, designed to create a "IoT" platform named CityIQ, covering 160 square miles, almost half of the city. Using the intelligent street lamp system, municipal operators can monitor LED remotely and reduce energy consumption and adjust the brightness of street lamps. By using LED lighting, the system is expected to reduce the energy cost of the city by 60%, or $2 million 500 thousand per year. Street lights can also collect data on street parking, pedestrians, temperature and other environmental conditions, and even detect guns.

"It enables us to relocate the city's street light infrastructure as an intelligent city platform," said Austin Ashe, the general manager of the city of Current. Ashe claims that Santiago will have the world's largest IoT multisensor platform after completion.

In addition, last year and this year, GE continued to sell the news of the GE sales and Current. In this regard, the Santiago intelligent city project stakeholders want to know the impact of the GE sale of Current on the Santiago CityIQ platform, and to ensure the continuity of the deployment and operation of the project. Ashe responded by saying, "the buyers of Current will buy all our technology," he said. "Our customers don't worry about that. All they want is data. Our customers have no resistance to this. "

David Graham, the deputy chief operating officer of Santiago, who oversees the CityIQ project, also said the sale of Current by GE would not disrupt Santiago's pioneering projects. "Companies are easy to handle, and maintaining a good relationship with customers is crucial to getting value from any acquisition. We believe that the Santiago project and its pioneering work will remain the most important in any process of the GE transition. "

According to the mail sent to partners by GE lighting in May, the company's sale has entered the bidding process, including the sale of GE lighting (consumer lighting business) and Current. GE lighting has received some first round of non binding tenders (the deadline for submission is April 30th). On the basis of the first round of bidding, the second round of bidders were selected. It is expected that a second round of binding bids will be submitted to the end of June 30th, and final negotiations will be carried out before the final signing.
