Who will the GE lighting go to? The final bidding and negotiation results will be delivered in September.

According to reports, it is expected that in the next one or two months, GE's company will complete the installation of intelligent lighting system in Santiago, which is known as "the largest municipal networking in the world".

GE Current began investing $30 million 300 thousand in Santiago earlier, upgrading the 14 thousand street lamps in Santiago to efficient LED lights to speed up the development of intelligent city.

The load sensor street lamp will be connected to the wireless network, which contains 3200 smart sensor nodes. It aims to create a IoT platform called CityIQ, covering 160 square miles, almost half of the city. Using the intelligent street lamp system, the municipal operators can monitor the LED and reduce energy consumption and adjust the brightness of street lamps. By using LED lighting, the system is expected to reduce the energy cost of the city by 60%, which is 2 million 500 thousand dollars per year. Street lamps can also collect data on street parking spaces, traffic, pedestrians, temperature and other environmental conditions, and even detect gunshots.

Current Austin Ashe, general manager of smart city, said, "it enables us to relocate the city's street lighting infrastructure into an intelligent city platform." Ashe claims that Santiago will have the world's largest IoT multisensor platform after completion.

In addition, last year and this year, the news of GE's sale of lighting business and Current has been continuously heard. For this reason, Santiago smart city project stakeholders want to know the impact of GE's sale of Current on Santiago's CityIQ platform, and whether it can ensure continuity of project deployment and operation when acquired. Ashe responded, "buyers of Current will buy all of our technology," he said. "Our customers are not worried about this. All they want is data. Our customers have no resistance to this. "

David Graham, deputy chief operating officer of Santiago who oversees the CityIQ project, also said that the sale of Current by GE would not destroy Santiago's pioneering projects. "The company will change hands and maintain good relations with customers. It is very important to get value from any acquisition. We believe that in the process of any transformation of GE, the Santiago project and its pioneering work will remain the top priority. "

According to the e-mail sent to partners by GE lighting in May, the sale of the company has entered the bidding process, including the sale of GE lighting (consumer lighting business) and Current. GE lighting has received some first round of non binding tenders (the deadline for submission is April 30th). On the basis of the first round of bidding, the bidder entered the second round. It is expected that the second round of binding bids will end in about June 30th, and then the final negotiations will be held before the final signing.

After all, who will be the GE lighting? Let's see the final bidding and negotiation results in September.
