With the latest LED technology, many bridges, such as Tower Bridge of London, will be replaced by "new clothes"

According to the British media, this week, the City of London Corp voted to allow the start of a project to "illuminate the river project", which will install new lighting on six bridges on Thames River, when several of London's most famous bridges will be replaced with "new clothes".

From the Albert bridge to the tower bridge, the lighting design for each bridge will be used to present the history of each bridge.

The bridge under the City of London Corp is managed by Bridge House Estates, including Millennium Bridge, Blackfriars, Southwark, London Bridge and tower bridge.

The project will be designed by American Lighting artist Leo Villareal and London architect Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, who demonstrated the lighting program in 2016, winning an international competition to beat 105 global entries.

The team's concept uses the latest LED technology, designed for softer lighting than the current decorative lighting, which is expected to reduce existing energy consumption by 50% and reduce future maintenance costs.

The cost of the project is about 20 million pounds (about 176 million 600 thousand yuan), and the "illuminating River project" has been raised by trust and philanthropists, and the work will begin between 2019 and 2022.

Chris Hayward, chairman of the planning and Transport Committee of the city of London, said the project was one of the largest free public art facilities in the world, and he was happy that the project was about to be realized. (Editor: LED network James)
