Xi'an began to develop the Ten City million pilot program

Recently, the Ministry of science and technology officially approved Xi'an as the National Ten City million semiconductor lighting application engineering pilot cities. This marks the Xi'an semiconductor lighting R & D and industrialization of new progress. In addition to the city of Xi'an, the pilot cities as well as Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Chengdu and other 21 cities.

Semiconductor lighting refers to the use of all solid state light-emitting devices that led (LED) as the light source, with a long life, no heat radiation, energy saving and pollution-free characteristics. Compared with the traditional light source, the illumination of LED light source is more than 50%, and it has broad application prospects in road lighting, subway lighting, tunnel lighting and so on. "Ten city lights" semiconductor lighting engineering, is a proposed by the Ministry of science and technology plan, the overall goal of application engineering is: by 2010, from 10 to 21 or more to promote the 400 thousand city municipal semiconductor lighting, to achieve annual saving 60 million kwh, the cumulative energy saving 1 kilowatt hours or more, the municipal semiconductor lighting the industry reached 8 billion yuan, driven by the semiconductor lighting industry output value of more than 100 billion yuan. For the pilot cities, the state will be supported by policies and funding.

Currently, Xi'an began to develop a pilot program. Science and Technology Department of Shaanxi province said that the province will seize the strategic opportunities in the global promotion and application of new energy and solar photovoltaic, semiconductor lighting industry development, around the "ten city lights" pilot, to solve the problems of business model and industry chain construction, promote Shaanxi province semiconductor lighting industry healthy and rapid development.
