17 inch LCD panel supply prices soon

This year if you plan to buy a 17 inch LCD display, now is the best time. According to market research firm iSuppli report, 17 inch panel supply shortage will lead to large screen LCD prices in the short term.

LCD prices have been falling for years, and there is no indication that the trend will change in the long run. But several market research firm analysts have said that in 2005, the screen size of 10 inches or more of the LCD, especially the most popular of the 17 inch screen, the price will rise by up to 10%.

According to the iSuppli report, production capacity has been unable to keep up with the increasing demand from desktop computer monitors and LCD TV market. This effect has been reflected in the beginning of the year, the first quarter of this year in large screen LCD panel supply exceeds demand 3.1%, the gap in the second quarter will be reduced to 2.4% to two, after the season will rise to 4.8% and 6.1%.

ISuppli said that the new plant capacity to slow down the supply of LCD panels led to a large increase in the first quarter of only 2.8%, which will directly cause the supply of tight panel in the second quarter. After the factory gradually increased production capacity, supply growth rate continued to rise to second in the quarter, the third quarter is 12.5%, and in the fourth quarter will be a total of 20%.

2005 full year, the total supply of large screen LCD panel is about 193 million. In contrast, the global annual demand for large screen LCD panel total of about 184 million 700 thousand.

The cause of the problem is the shortage of production materials. ISuppli said at the beginning of the production of large screen TFT-LCD panel glass substrate used in the second half of this year will be short of 8-10%. In addition, the fifth, the six generation of liquid crystal filter used in the factory will be in the fourth quarter when the shortage of 7-12%. In addition, polarizer, TAC film, etc. will also appear in short supply situation.
