20 major semiconductor manufacturers ranked fresh baked growth highlights

From market research company iSuppli in 2005 20 semiconductor manufacturers final rankings freshly baked. From the data point of view, although in 2005 the global semiconductor industry is a soft landing, but the performance of the major chip manufacturers is not weak, the largest growth rate of three vendors have exceeded the market average.

According to iSuppli's final data, global semiconductor sales in 2005 was $237 billion 100 million, an increase of $3.6% compared to $228 billion 800 million in 2004. Compared with the strong growth of 23.8% in 2004, the modest growth represents a soft landing.

The largest of the three semiconductor suppliers are Intel, Samsung Electronics and TI, their growth rate is higher than the market average of 3.6%, to consolidate the leading position in the market. Broadcom, Hynix, IBM, micron, Qualcomm, SONY, STMicroelectronics and Toshiba rankings are steadily, while the AMD, Infineon, Matsushita, SHARP, Renesas four companies ranked respectively decreased.

The top three unchanged, each have a flash point

In the top 10 semiconductor manufacturers, Intel's highest growth rate, which in 2005 achieved two digit growth, sales revenue grew by $31 billion 400 million, from $13% in 2004 to $35 billion 500 million. It can be said that Intel pulled the distance between other manufacturers, its market share rose from 13.8% in 2004 to $15%.

ISuppli Dale, vice president of marketing intelligence, said Ford, Intel's strong growth from the promotion of the microprocessor business. 2005 global microprocessor market grew by 16.1%, while in 2005 Intel's microprocessor market share has been taken away by AMD after the percentage of 2.9. The semiconductor industry association (SIA) has been analyzed, in 2006, the growth in the notebook computer driven, microprocessor market growth rate will accelerate faster than the PC market, Intel issued many series of dual core processor attracted many eyes at the same time, it will also give the performance of the semiconductor market in 2006 brought more growth.

At the same time, Intel in the NOR flash market performance better than all other competitors, although the market fell by 15.3% in 2005. Ford pointed out that Intel's NOR flash sales fell by only 0.3%, while its opponents fell by about 5.5% to about 50%.

In 2005, the top 10 semiconductor manufacturers, Samsung Electronics sales growth rate of second, its sales grew by $17 billion 200 million to $9.2% in 2004 was $15 billion 800 million. The South Korean electronics giant continues to dominate the memory market, which accounts for 84% of Samsung's total revenue. In 2005, Samsung also received a comprehensive benefit in the core storage market.

Ford said that in 2005 the global DRAM market fell 6.2%, despite the continued loss of Samsung in this part of the business market, but sales fell by only 1 percentage points. On the contrary, Samsung NAND flash in this hot market gained more than 47% of the leap growth. Although the market research company has pointed out that the phenomenon of minor NAND pile up in excess of requirement of flash market, but that will not hinder the continued hot market, Samsung will continue to benefit from better momentum in 2006. TI continued to consolidate its third position in the semiconductor market in 2005. Its sales grew 5.1% from $10 billion 200 million in 2004 to $10 billion 700 million. Ford believes that TI's positive performance in 2005 mainly from the DSP, microcontroller, and logic specific standard products (ASSP) market. As the world's first logic chip supplier, TI 0.6% increase compared with the industry's average growth rate of 1.5%, it is slightly inferior.

Other vendors seating rearrangement, fabless for the first time into the top 20 semiconductor manufacturers

In the 2004 ranking fell out of the top five in Toshiba and STMicroelectronics (Toshiba) at fourth and fifth in the rankings, Infineon and Renesas because sales were down 9.6% and 8.2% fell out of the top five positions.

Although AMD successfully took 2.9% of the microprocessor market from Intel, AMD sales in 2005 fell to $3 billion 917 million from $5 billion 108 million in 2004, ranking from the top down to the 15 place. Imagine, if the AMD and Spansion performance together, can get $5 billion 970 million in revenue, ranking will rise to eighth. Separately, Spansion's sales revenue in 2005 was $2 billion 53 million, ranking twenty-fourth.

Overall, 20 large semiconductor manufacturers, only 4 companies in 2005 achieved double-digit growth, including Intel, Hynix, IBM and Broadcom and NEC electronics, Matsushita electronic and the two companies showed a double-digit decline.

From 2005 5 of the world's largest IC design company, Broadcom and Qualcomm (Qualcomm) for the first time into the top 20 semiconductor manufacturers seating, and nVidia, ATI is also the first to enter the top 25 semiconductor manufacturers.
