LED will bring a revolution to the world's lighting industry". In 2012, LED accounted for only 66 billion of the total $18% in the lighting market, and by 2020, it is expected that LED will occupy a $100 billion share of the lighting market by 70%. One of the most important driving forces from emerging markets LED lighting technology, energy regulation and strong momentum of economic growth. Asian countries LED lighting coverage will be different. After the nuclear crisis in Japan, the government vigorously promote the development of energy conservation, which will be faster to use LED instead of traditional lighting. GE Asia Lighting CEO Henry Eng said: "this year, our LED sales in Asia will grow by 26%. For me, it's still too slow. We want to grow 60% next year." GE has pushed its products to a number of countries in the local market, the company expects next year's lighting products sales will grow by 30%, while its growth rate in the past 2 years was about 25% (expected 2013) and 18% (2012). Sales of GE products are mainly from modern trade channels, for example, in Thailand, GE has 55% of sales from this, followed by the sales of automotive and professional lighting channels from 15%. In addition, OEM, project sales and retail channels accounted for 10%. Project sales channels will become a core driver, is expected this year, there will be a substantial increase of 42%, while next year may reach up to 50%. In terms of product type, energy saving lamp accounts for 30% of the total sales of GE lighting, followed by LED (20%), high intensity discharge lamp (15%), fluorescent lamp (10%), fixing device (10%), professional lighting (9%) and halogen lamp (2). Henry Eng believes that the public perception of LED products is still the core factor affecting the market penetration. The general manager of GE lighting Thailand District Jatupong Jaturawong believes LED lamp price will be a significant decline in the near future, as the price of energy-saving lamps in 12 years from 400-500 baht (about 77-96 yuan) dropped to 60-70 baht (about 11.5-13.5 yuan).
