40000 LEDs illuminated the glass curtain wall of Austria Museum

In January 2, 2009, the most advanced lighting technology will illuminate the Ars ELectronica Center Austria's 5100 square meters of glass wall, to celebrate the opening of the exhibition of human sight. The special effects lighting uses 40000 LEDs, compared with the original plan to use fluorescent lamp background lighting will greatly reduce the power and have a longer service life.

This LED exterior lighting installation is one of the most magnificent installations in europe. The power required for the normal operation of the night is 3-5 kw. Compared with the fluorescent lamp, LEDs can operate at full output even at very low temperatures. Reduced energy costs, but also reduced the cost of repairs and maintenance every year, an estimated annual savings of 38000 euros.

One side of the glass curtain wall is equipped with 1100 LED, 20-120 cm long. LED section is 30 x 45 mm; each surface is equipped with 20-48 high output LEDs. 40000 diodes turn red, green, blue and white evenly apart. Welded to the printed circuit board, each LEDs from the base is 2.4 x 4.5 mm, 2 mm high. Each diode is fitted with a specially designed 22 x 22-mm lens to cast light on the glass panel. Each of the 1100 LED is controlled by an electronic device, making it possible to fine tune the brightness and color mixing.

The main computer that is saved to the memory lighting system is a repertory mode that can be used for future museum exterior lighting at night. Special artistic effects and new models can be implemented on a computer from scratch. In the unique characteristics of Linz use is likely to produce a pure white light. With it, just press a button AEC can be transformed into a "white crystal".

This innovative exterior lighting designed and installed by Multivision, Multivision's headquarters in Marchtrenk was founded in 2002. Multivision also designed the Energie Ag 's power Tower exterior lighting.

New exhibits

The new view of human progress to show amazing human four laboratories in the fields of life science in the stage through the exhibition, to carry out the research and development projects, to impart knowledge and skills, and gradually formed a positive solution to the problem.

Ars Electronica Center as a "Museum of the future" prototype opened in 1996. Its mission is to alleviate the difficulties faced by the general public in the face of virtual reality, digital networks and modern media through mediation of interactive forms. Focus on the issue of the media interface, the new technology and social development will be the center of the innovative exhibition features. In addition, Ars Electronica Center as a permanent base, thus contributing to the establishment of the central region and international organizations.
