AUO Board approved investment of NT $1 billion 500 million LED

Au Optronics Co Ltd (AU Optronics Corp., 2409.TW) said on Friday that the board has approved the investment of NT $1 billion 500 million (US $49 million 430 thousand) to set up a light emitting diode (LED) the company's plans. AUO said in a statement, the new manufacturing company LED will ensure that AU Optronics LED backlight module obtain stable supply, help to cut costs. The company did not disclose more details. According to the total revenue, AUO is the world's third largest panel manufacturers.
