AUO to join Samsung authorized LCD and OLED related patents

AU Optronics announced recently, with South Korea's Samsung Electronics (Samsung Electronics) formally signed a patent cross licensing agreement both sides widely. The scope of the license covers the patents related to TFT-LCD and OLED technologies, especially in the LCD TV applications.

AU Optronics and Samsung Electronics believes that the patent cross licensing will strengthen each other in the future competitive position of the industry, and accelerate the application and development of TFT-LCD in including LCD TV and other new technology.

AUO and Samsung are committed to leading manufacturers TFT-LCD. According to reports, as of the end of 2005, AUO patented all over the world has more than more than 1 thousand and 700, while the application patent has reached more than 3 thousand and 300.
