Allegro launches low-cost 120mA white LED driver

Allegro MicroSystems days before the launch of a new high efficiency charge pump white LED driver A8435. This simple, low-cost LED driver solution can be used for portable electronic displays and other applications.

The A8435 uses a unique control method (1 x, 1.5 x) that can output up to a maximum of 4 channels suitable for LED current while maintaining maximum efficiency over a number of lithium battery life. The input voltage of the device is 2.7V to 5.5V, the output current of 30mA to each current source, the total output current up to 120mA, can meet the needs of the majority of lithium battery powered white LED backlight applications. According to reports, A8435 provides a flexible choice for LED drivers. LED current can be set by any of the following methods:

Select a value to reset;

2 bit 3 level parallel control;

PWM control;

A series of serial pulse input, can be set up to 11 levels of brightness (from 100% to 5%).

The driver uses MLP-16 (A8435EES) flat package (0.75mm high), the plane size of 3 * 3mm. Volume of more than 10000 units at a price of 59 cents (for reference only).
