AnalogicTech introduced a small Silent Series boost LED backlight driver

Focused on consumer, industrial and communications market analog semiconductor company to provide power for innovative solutions Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. (AnalogicTech) (Nasdaq: AATI) launched 31mA single channel before the light emitting diode (LED) boost driver AAT14XX series, it can drive a string of up to 10 leds. Small size of the drive and silent operation make it an ideal LED backlight single lithium battery equipment solutions, these devices include the larger screen mobile phone and intelligent mobile phone, MP3 player, portable media player (PMP) and the application of portable navigation devices.

AAT14XX series to support a larger display, to achieve more efficient and has a filter pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming function, which can reduce the interference in the mobile phone and other handheld devices. AAT14XX has a 1.15 x 1.55 mm chip scale package (WLCSP) size, on the printed circuit board requires only 0.7 cm2 space, making it one of the smallest solutions on the market.

AnalogicTech strategic marketing director Roger Smullen said: "the best backlight power management needs and characteristics with the development of the LED market and evolving. AAT14XX series brings to the market one of the smallest LED series driver solutions, strengthening our product portfolio for handheld devices. These new products for our complex LED products add new features, our LED products are rapidly involved in a wide range of end products from handheld devices, flat panel tv. "

LED brightness control using one of the following three ways: the use of the S2CwireTM interface of the 32 dimming and the use of PWM control filter or direct dimming. 100 KHz PWM dimming frequency can reduce audible noise, and can be compatible with the content of the adaptive brightness control (CABC) to further reduce the energy consumption of up to 50%.

The main source of power consumption in a portable system with a display screen is the backlight in a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. AAT14XX series with three dimming control and an integrated high voltage current mirror to solve this problem, the current mirror can be in the range of 10mA to 31mA flexible adjustment of LED current without considering the number of series LED. The proposed method achieves a 88% higher efficiency than the conventional LED driver using a ballast resistor to provide much higher efficiency.

AAT14XX series includes four parts: 31mA current, AAT1410, AAT1401, AAT1402 and AAT1403 can drive up to 4, 6, 8 and 10 series LED. These devices support a voltage input range of 2.7 - 5.5 V, including over temperature protection, programmable over voltage protection, LED open circuit protection and automatic recovery after fault removal. AAT14XX series provides 10 pin WLCSP package, size smaller than SOT23 packaging, smaller than the 2 x 2 QFN packaging of small size of 55%. The working temperature range of this series is -40 DEG C to +85.

AAT1401 per 10K price of $0.36. Other products please contact AnalogicTech or AnalogicTech dealer. 14xx series is currently in transit.
