At CISCO plans to enter the mainstream consumer electronics

According to a report in the British Financial Times website FT.com, network equipment giant CISCO (Cisco Systems) plans to enter the mainstream of the field of consumer electronics, SONY, Samsung and other companies to challenge the market position. CISCO senior vice president and business development officer Charles Giancarlo said the company plans to engage in the production of radios, telephones and home theater equipment.

Giancarlo is also director of the CISCO Linksys family network. He said that CISCO believes that there is a huge business opportunities related to the internet. "Consumer electronics companies have a competitive advantage in stand-alone products, and the market is changing." Giancarlo said in an interview with the financial times, the Internet and new network needs to provide us with the opportunity to enter new markets."

Over the years, CISCO with its router products is the most famous, is also the first to commercial users customers. CISCO acquired in July last year, Denmark's DVD machine, video recorders and other consumer electronic products supplier KiSS technology company. KiSS is currently developing other media and communications equipment for CISCO.
