Austria Microelectronics Corporation (AMS) launched the easy to use user interface (UI) LED driver AS1115, expanding its comprehensive product portfolio LED drive. AS1115 integrated display driver and keyboard scanning function, to achieve a complete panel solution, eliminating the need for P or other logic circuits and discrete devices, thereby reducing the number and cost of BOM.

AS1115 can be driven by the current of 8 numbers of each digital 47mA, and can be driven by each LED 5mA current of 64 independent LED. External resistance can easily adjust the current. AS1115 has an excellent accuracy of + 3%, due to the intensity difference between the LED and the LED module is driven, greatly improving the quality of the LED display. Whether it is the global digital brightness control or the independent dimming of each digit, the 4 bit PWM mechanism is adopted. In addition, AS1115 also provides up to 16 keys of the read back function, so as to achieve a single-chip UI solution.

The program can detect any open or short circuit faults of multiplexed 8x8 within LED arrays, and can also provide detailed error reporting, and read the specific location of damaged LED, which greatly shortens the test time in the production process.

The AS1115 operates at a single supply of 2.7V - 5.5V and operates only when the supply current is 0.6mA, and the shutdown mode is 200nA. AS1115 through the I2C bus connection, a I2C bus can be connected up to 4 devices.

AS1115 suitable operating temperature of -40 - 85 degrees C, requires very few external components, the system cost can be reduced to a minimum. For ease of handling, the AS1115 uses a QSOP 24 pin package. For space sensitive applications can also provide TQFN (4x4) -24 package.
