Automotive LED market in 2011 will reach $1 billion 200 million

Automotive LED lighting application of compound annual growth of 13% from 2007 to 2011 increased the size of the market reached $1 billion 200 million, a rise of more than $670 million in 2007, penetration is expected to reach 8-9%. In Taiwan, more than 60% of new cars are equipped with LED brake lights, according to the center for industrial economics and trends. LED brake light penetration rate is expected to rise to 55% in 2007, up to the year of 2011, while the penetration rate of LED taillights is expected to rise from 15% in 2007 to $28% in the year of 2011. In addition, some technical bottlenecks, such as heat and light efficiency maintenance after 2-3 years to solve the LED headlights will become very common. At present, the cost of LED headlights is more than 20 NT $(US $6450). So the product is currently used only for high-end cars. Some car manufacturers in the headlight system has begun to use LED headlights. Taiwan industrial economy and the trend of research center forecast value of Taiwan automotive industry this year will reach NT $923 million and some of the products, with the new car models in the near future different lights to about 60 LED. LED will have a very high growth rate.
