Catalyst introduces an inductive LED driver to provide dual mode switching

CAT4134 can drive up to 6 White / color LED for industrial video lighting, digital cameras, flash, LCD backlight and other high-power LED applications to provide efficient and simplified design.

According to reports, this new type of inductive boost LED driver contains a matching dual output channel, the maximum output current can be up to 500mA, the output current can be controlled by RSET or RFLASH resistance. When the Flash input pin is low (camera mode), the LED current is determined by the RSET; when the Flash input pin is high (flash mode), the LED current is determined by the RFLASH resistor. Each channel in a constant current mode to drive the concatenation of one or three white LED brightness. CAT4134 can support input voltages as low as 3V, suitable for use in lithium battery powered products.

High frequency and low noise operation allows the CAT4134 to be able to maintain good efficiency (up to 85%) with small inductors and ceramic capacitors and is suitable for applications where space and power consumption are subject to stringent requirements.

By setting the shut-down pin allows the CAT4134 to enter the "zero current" static mode, which can further reduce battery consumption. In addition, the CAT4134 soft start control and current limiting features can provide short circuit and over temperature protection. The specific overvoltage protection (OVP) pin allows the user to set the maximum output voltage of the output port.
