In February last year, the Australian government announced that it would ban the use of incandescent light bulbs in the country by the end of 2010. Subsequently, a number of OECD countries have joined the "disable incandescent" initiative.

Jie Zhenhua said, in the face of the global wave of incandescent lamp, China government and the United Nations Development Programme and the global environment fund will cooperate to carry out "phasing out incandescent lamps and energy saving lamps promotion project, support China incandescent lamp production enterprises to energy-saving lamps.

Statistics show that in China, energy-saving light penetration is still low, a year of incandescent lamp sales reached 2 billion, the proportion of small and medium-sized city residents use incandescent lamps in general more than 50%, the proportion of rural greater use of incandescent lamps. At present, China's lighting electricity accounts for about 12% of the total electricity consumption in the whole society. Analysts pointed out that with the development of economy and the improvement of people's living standard, Chinese lighting electricity consumption will further increase, and by promoting the use of efficient lighting products, will further increase the energy-saving potential of China.
