DELL December 2/3 notebook display will apply LED backlight

In September 25, 2008, according to foreign media reports, DELL will be from the middle of December, the use of mercury free LED as a laptop display light source, designed to reduce the impact on the environment and facilitate re-use.

DELL said, LED display power consumption is lower than CCFL display, 15 inches LED lower than the same size CCFL power consumption of 43%. DELL's existing notebook is a CCFL display.

December shipments of LED display notebook notebook sales in DELL accounted for about 2/3, including Latitude E series and two Precision workstations. DELL said that by the end of 2009 before the sale of notebooks, there will be 80% of the use of LED display as a standard configuration; by 2010, all DELL notebook will use LED display.

DELL promised two years before the LED screen as the only screen display, Apple also made the same commitment in 2007, saying it will eventually abandon the relatively low price of CCFL display. Apple in its MacBook Air, 15 inches MacBook, a Pro of 17 inches MacBook and all iPod and iPhone using the LED display.

Prior to this, HP has also begun to sell laptops and desktops equipped with LED display.
