DOE announced the fourth round of CALiPER project test results

The U.S. Department of energy (DOE) commercially available LED product evaluation and report (Commercially Available LED Product Evaluation and Reporting, CALiPER) project (prior to solid state lighting commodity test project) fourth test (September 2007 -12 months) has ended. This round of testing a total of 20 kinds of goods, of which 15 kinds of SSL lamps used in various fields, the 5 fluorescent lamps and halogen lamps, as a reference. The light source and the SSL lamp test using the radiation testing method (spectroradiometry) and abridged goniophotometer smoothness measurement method (goniophotometry), the temperature test (for the highest close to the hot lamp and closed power measurement) is also studied.

The fourth round of testing items include 5 kinds of SSL to replace the light bulb (1 branch candle lamp, large 1 T8 and 3 MR16 lights to replace the light bulb), 2 lamp, lamp and several working lights and several outdoor lighting. The results of this round of testing are slightly different: a few products disappointing performance, but also did not perform particularly prominent products, but there are many highlights.

test method

In accordance with the provisions of the inspection process lighting testing laboratory LM-79 draft standard in the whole lamp were tested, rather than the traditional test separate test lamp (lamp rating) and grade (fixture efficiency), luminaire efficiency or only measured without LED control devices and arrays of electronic components and heat sink. This is because the current measurement of LED flux array devices or no standard industry testing process, on the other hand, the performance of LED is sensitive to temperature, influenced greatly, have a substantial impact on the performance of different lighting design by using LED device or LM-79 array, so the lighting efficiency standards as the evaluation of SSL based on energy efficiency products. This round of testing, to sell the products using the lamp lamp test; and to replace the light bulb to sell products, depends on its size and test tool geometry position were measured in the standard lamp holder plug.

CALiPER test selection

The overall policy of the CALiPER project is to purchase commercially viable products and test them through distributors or other marketing channels. However, due to the purchase of a product in the market, or by other DOE SSL project commissioned by the CALiPER project also accepted a number of samples for testing, and the test report which is the sample.

Fourth round CALiPER project test results

Table 1 summarizes the performance of all fourth products in the test (including light output, light efficiency, color rendering index), in addition, to provide the basis in addition to the performance measured by LM-79, also collected data published by manufacturers to spectrophotometric analysis, as control.

The efficiency of the 3 brackets is adjusted, and the influence of the power consumption in the closed state (assuming a daily turn-on time of 3 hours) is considered. 4 * indicates that two samples of a product are tested, and the test results are the average of the two samples. 5 07-50** products offer 6 optional color temperature (2652, 2945, 3444, 3921, 4862 and 6247 K), the power, light output and efficiency values of the table are the average of the products under the 6 conditions. RGB LED generates white light, so CRI is not available. 6 07-51*** products from the 4 can work together also can work independently in the table lamp, light output and efficiency value of single lamp independent results, 4 lamps to work together results as follows: light output: 89 LM; Efficiency: 25.7 lm/W. 7 07-62 products in the output voltage under the condition of 12VDC, the efficiency value is 54 lm/W, the actual use of adding transformer, efficiency is reduced to 85%. 8 07-38, 07-39 and 7-40 will test 3 different light sources
