Since the launch of L for the U.S. Department of energy a year ago, the day before, DOE has made the requirement is slightly amended the L prize competition.
The L award is the first government-sponsored technology competition designed to speed up the development of high quality, high efficiency, solid state lighting products to replace ordinary bulbs.
The contest will be awarded to the winners of the highest cash award, given the Federal Procurement Agreement opportunities, utility projects, and award winning products other incentive bonus.
The revised contest requirements, the main part of the three amendments:
Amendment of eligibility requirements

Revised eligibility requirements:
In addition to meet the requirements of the fourth quarter (Section IV) technical performance specifications, but also to meet the requirements of section A (Section A) in any qualification requirements and B section (Section B) qualification requirements:
A1) the majority (over 75%) LED bare chip or chip, is defined as the solid state semiconductor materials, the electrical energy directly into light, and the product must be produced in the United states.
or
A2) LED must be packaged in the United states.
or
A3) the majority (over 75%) of the final product assembly / integration should be carried out in the United states.
and
B) as a private entity, the entity shall include and maintain a major business in the United States; the individual (whether as an individual or an organization, individual participation) should be a citizen or permanent legal residents belong to the United states. "
Revision of the associated color temperature (CCT)
The purpose of the competition is to achieve high quality light source, in order to adhere to this philosophy, DOE has been related to the color temperature (CCT) specification of the chromaticity specification has been revised.
Revision of PAR 38 minimum average center strength (CBCP)
The United States Department of energy CALiPER project to do a further analysis of the baseline technology and benchmark, the lowest average intensity has the PAR 38 class lamps (CBCP:center beam candle power) specification was revised to more accurately reflect the products, and ultimately set the L prize is to replace the ordinary lighting lamp.
