Dedicated to transformation, PHILPS lighting plans to close the Faure Leaf plant in the United States

According to foreign media Herald News, PHILPS lighting on Friday (20) announced that the third quarter of this year will close the factory in Faure Leaf (Fall River) Airport Road 631, southeastern Massachusetts, when 160 employees will lose their work, production will be transferred to PHILPS lighting Mexico (Monterey) workers. The factory, and the research and development will be transferred to Bos Brown, Canada (Boisbriand), all transfer work will be completed at the end of the first quarter of 2019.

Melissa Kanter, head of PHILPS's lighting Communications Department, says it will remain the Faure Leaf factory and will temporarily retain non - production personnel such as sales and marketing. It is not yet clear how many PHILPS lighting employees will be retained.

About why the Faure Leaf factory was closed, Kanter said by email: "the lighting industry is accelerating. In the context of the intensification of market competition, we have taken the lead in transforming from traditional lighting to LED, and now we have changed to intelligent lighting systems and services used in cities, offices, retail and families. It is a difficult decision, but it is part of our promotion of excellent operations, which can help companies optimize production and supply, so as to maintain competitiveness and provide customers with the service and quality they expect.

In addition, Kanter said PHILPS will still work to build the Lightolier brand and will continue to produce the high quality products currently produced at the Faure Leaf plant, including the specification level Calculite tube products and reflectors. The production of these products will be transferred to the manufacturing plant in Monterey.
