DisplaySearch:09 third quarter global OLED shipments soared, revenues of $250 million

According to statistics from market research firm DisplaySearch shows that the third quarter of 2009, the global OLED revenue has broke the previous record, reaching $252 million, growth of 31%, and the OLED product shipments reached 21 million 700 thousand, an increase of 19%.

Despite the economic downturn, but the growth in demand for high-end mobile phones and smart phones will drive OLED growth.

Samsung SMD (Samsung Mobile Displays) in OLED shipments continue to maintain its strong leading position, and AMOLED income to seize the market share of 73%, and ranked second in RiTdisplay Technology (RiTdisplay) occupy 12% of the market share. LG display (LG Display) also announced that they plan to start production in the third quarter of 2009, a 15 inch AMOLED TV monitor.

Although the AMOLED market in terms of shipments and revenue growth, however, PMOLED did not appear between 2008 and 2009 growth. Nevertheless, the demand for PMOLED Benz and Lexus applications are increasing. Therefore, in the third quarter of 2009, on automotive applications, PMOLED shipments increased to $427 thousand, an increase of 19%, an increase of 22%.
