EU OLED100.eu project continues to develop efficient OLED

A team of experts organized by the industry and college conducted a comprehensive research project - "OLED100.eu", the goal of the project is to accelerate the development of organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology in Europe, the formation of efficient OLED based application technology in the field of general lighting as soon as possible. The EU seventh framework agreement for the research project provides a research budget of 12 million 500 thousand euros (about $16 million 500 thousand).

The "OLED100.eu" project started in 2004, completed at the beginning of this year, successfully carried out research in lighting applications in the OLED, the white OLED in the initial brightness 1000 cd/m2 luminous efficiency of 50.7 lm/W (see the details) and life more than 10 thousand hours, in order to establish the foundation of organic lighting.

After the OLED100.eu project, the EU continues to invest in the development of organic lighting technology and general lighting of the necessary norms, and will focus on five major goals:

Life: 100 thousand hours 3 large area --100x100 cm24. low cost 100 euro / m25. / 1 standard application of high efficiency --100 lm/W2. long

OLED100.eu project director, PHILPS Research Institute Stefan Grabowski pointed out that the European Commission committed to reduce emissions by 20% CO2 in 2020, OLED100.eu is an important starting point to improve lighting energy efficiency. Based on the successful application of OLED in lighting applications, OLED100.eu will release the double effect of light, life and area of ten times the current OLED. And PHILPS and OSRAM to participate in these projects to study the lighting industry giants will ensure that the results of the research into the real product in the shortest possible time. OLED100.eu a total of 15 companies and research institutions from Austria, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Holland, belgium.
