Energy Star LED bulb annual sales of more than 45 million

Energy star website recently revealed that, in the first challenge initiated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the LED star bulbs certified sales of more than 20 million. Replacing such a huge amount of traditional light bulbs will help the United States save more than $118 million a year in energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 3 million 500 thousand of vehicles.

In the past year, from April 22, 2013 to April 22, 2014, many American retailers including Ace, Hardware (Best Buy) and home depot have participated in this challenge. They are promoting energy star LED bulb on the notice letter, website and in store exhibition to help consumers understand its multiple benefits. In addition, the purchase of subsidies also makes these bulbs more price advantages, in line with the choice of ordinary consumers. Although sales have been reported to reach 20 million, the EPA estimates that the total sales of energy star LED bulbs have exceeded 45 million last year.

Many retailers are giving priority to promoting energy star LED bulbs because they want to give consumers an excellent lighting experience. As a government supported certification, the Energy Star label indicates that the bulb has passed independent certification and has undergone numerous tests to ensure its performance, achieve high brightness and match the light distribution of traditional bulbs.

What we have to understand is that the energy star LED bulb saves 70%-90% of energy consumption and extends its service life by 25 times compared to incandescent incandescent lamps of the same light. A single light bulb certified by an energy star will save $40-135 in electricity costs over its life cycle.
