European OLLA project released white OLED research results

Recently, the European "for high brightness organic light emitting diode" information and communication technology and lighting equipment project (OLLA) Joint Research Institute released its final results: white OLED NovaLED PIN based on OLED technology, the initial brightness is 1000cd/m2, the luminous efficiency can reach 50.7lm/W. OLLA is a joint research team led by PHILPS lighting (Philips Lighting).

The 45 month OLLA program, starting in October 1, 2004, the budget for 2 million euros, of which 1 million 200 thousand euros from the European Union, the target to sample performance of 2008 OLED light requirement is the size of 30 * 30 cm2, 1000 cd/m2 and 50 lm/W brightness, efficiency, lifetime 10000 hours and the color index of 70. Members of the OLLA team have achieved the desired goals in terms of luminous efficiency, color performance and brightness, and in particular, the life expectancy of the NovaLED device exceeds the target value by an order of magnitude.

OLLA project manager from PHILPS lighting, said the high luminous efficiency, long life so that the OLED application in the field of lighting, innovative, energy-saving lighting products in the future. Introducing OLED technology into the lighting market is a very important step.

Novaled believes that Novaled PIN OLED technology has a great potential in improving the efficiency of OLED, I believe that through this technology, in the near future, OLED luminous efficiency can reach about 100lm/W. (http://www.ledsmagazine.com/news/5/6/24)
