In the LCD panel area, major suppliers plan to reduce energy consumption. In the field, some domestic institutions also combined the whole enterprise of energy saving certification of flat-panel TVs, but it is understood that the certification was limited to the standby power consumption, and simply think the standby power consumption below 3W are energy-saving products. At present, the relevant departments have not yet introduced a formal national or industry standards for flat-panel TV energy efficiency, energy saving certification indicators are also limited to reference when consumers buy.
At present, the most important energy saving technology in the field of flat panel display is to replace CCFL (cold cathode tube) as the backlight of liquid crystal panel by LED (light emitting diode). Even now, the widely used CCFL technology can also be improved through technology to reduce power consumption by reducing the number of root, such as the optimization of CCFL internal pressure CCFL improve the luminous efficiency and achieve the purpose of reducing energy consumption; the cascading order improved optical thin film can also achieve the purpose of reducing energy consumption, Sumitomo 3M FINEOPTO, SONY, Toshiba, Tama such companies have technical reserves in this area. In addition, the use of solar cells can also reduce the power consumption of LCD TV, SHARP launched the use of less than 40W solar cell driven 20 inch LCD TV products.
Of course, such flat-panel TV should be considered from the overall product design, if the LCD panel can improve the design, the panel transmittance of material and technology, can reduce energy consumption by 30%; if the LCD TV based on design considerations of lightweight, energy consumption can be reduced to half.
