Gartner chip foundry 10 released SMIC among three

Foreign media reports, in 2005 the global semiconductor foundry market ranking market data Dataquest days before Gartner. TSMC is still the world's largest semiconductor foundry in 2005, with a market share of 44.8%. 2005, TSMC industrial services amounted to $8 billion 220 million, an increase of 7.2%.

A potential runner up last year, the market share of 15.4%, sales grew 19.3%, to $2 billion 820 million.

SMIC from fourth in 2004 to upgrade to the third place, its market share was 6.4% last year, sales of $1 billion 170 million, an increase of 20.1%.

Chartered Semiconductor was SMIC from third to squeeze into the top fourth last year, the market share of $6.2%. Chartered Semiconductor sales last year was $1 billion 130 million, an increase of 2.6% over 2004.

Global IT giant IBM is still the fifth largest semiconductor foundry manufacturers, market share last year was $4.5%, sales of $832 million year on year decline of 2.1%.

South Korea's MagnaChip semiconductor company rose to sixth in the previous year's top seventh, and its market share climbed to $2.2%. Last year the company's foundry business sales of $396 million, an increase of 10%.

Vanguard in Taiwan has also fallen, from sixth in 2004 to nearly $seventh in 2005. Its market share was 1.9% last year, sales of $354 million, down by 9.8%.

South Korea Eastern semiconductor rose from ninth in 2004 to $eighth, a market share of 1.9%. Last year, the eastern semiconductor foundry business amounted to $347 million, an increase of 4.2%.

China Shanghai Huahong NEC rose from tenth in 2004 to ninth, the market share of 1.7%. Last year sales of $305 million, but fell by 5.7%.

America's Jazz semiconductor company rose to tenth in from the previous year, its market share has risen to 1.1% last year, sales of $210 million, down by 4.5% compared to 2004.
