The report notes that this year, the semiconductor IP market will grow by 24.9%, in addition, IP transactions are moving to more complex and expensive areas.

In the semiconductor industry, intellectual property (IP) refers to IC Design for chip production. In Gartner's forecast, the semiconductor IP market is only considered in the open market transactions IP, did not consider a single use of IP.

Gartner pointed out that this year, the global semiconductor IP market will reach $one billion and eight hundred million, compared with $one billion and four hundred million last year, an increase of about $1/4. By 2010, Garter expects the global semiconductor IP market will reach $two billion and seven hundred million.

Gartner's independent forecasts are very similar to last year's forecasts from iSuppli, California. ISuppli said last year that by 2009, the global semiconductor IP market capacity will grow from $one billion and two hundred million in 2004 to $2 billion 40 million.

Christie, senior analyst at Gartner semiconductor analysis department, said that in the past five years, the global semiconductor IP market has gradually matured. In the next five years, the market will bring many challenges to the industry, the main reason is that the demand for semiconductor IP from the design of standard functions to more complex areas.

Gartner analyst also predicted the future, many complex chip IP solutions will come from companies not chip processing plants, they need to use this service to the revenue with the chip manufacturers to compete with processing facilities.
