HP will be separated from the notebook PC Department

In order to strengthen efforts to develop it in billions of dollars in the mobile phone market, the Hewlett-Packard Co will separate it from the mobile phone business notebook computer business.

Hewlett-Packard Co said its mobile phone business department as an independent department to the Hewlett-Packard Co's personal systems group, the personal systems group also includes computing department, Department of notebook desktop and workstation department. The Hewlett-Packard Co said it was part of the company's recent restructuring measures.

Hewlett-Packard Co has appointed former Sun executive Dave Rothschild served as vice president of mobile phone business. Hewlett-Packard Co said the notebook computing business will continue to be led by the company's senior vice president and general manager Ted Clark.

Hewlett-Packard Co today announced the launch of a new smart phone products, iPAQ hw6900 Mobile Messenger. This new product is very powerful and complete, including e-mail function, mobile phone function, Wi-Fi wireless internet access function, Bluetooth, GPS global positioning function, GSM/GPRS/EDGE/ compatible Skype four function and optional built-in 1 million 300 thousand pixel digital camera function.

A recent study by In-Stat found that the smartphone market is growing at an annual rate of more than 70% in 2005 and will continue to grow in the coming years.
