IMS Research predicts strong growth in the LED Backlight Market

August 2007, British market research firm IMS Research predicts that the semiconductor Backlight Market in the next 6 years is expected to grow 50%. The company said LED backlight is beginning to be applied to the LCD TVey LCD notebook display. These applications will drive the development of the LED backlight market, drive IC and visible light sensors. LED backlight in the small and portable display applications for several years, and will continue to the development of large and medium size TV and display applications. IMS Research pointed out that for large and medium size backlight applications LED is becoming more efficient, the number of applications is also less and less, thereby reducing prices to compete with CCFL. But CCFL manufacturers will be able to take measures to maintain competitiveness.
