India Eveready attack LED want to seize the 10% Market

Eveready, general manager of India's leading battery manufacturer Amritanshu Khaitan recently accepted an interview with local media Business Standard, detailing the company's next phase of the program and share its successful experience. He said that Eveready intends to shift to the development of LED lighting industry, the production of LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs and mobile phone charger. Q1: what do you think are the most important factors contributing to this transformation?

A: the company's core business is still profitable. A few years ago, due to the continuous reduction of battery products, the market has become very depressed. We actively respond to this dilemma, the company has increased profits. In the field of lighting, we also produce a variety of products to continue to grow. You can see many of our company's LED products in e-commerce sites. At present, the transformation of Eveready company has ended, is growing.

Q2: are you worried that the market will fall into depression again?

Q3: compared to the battery business, the company is now more focused on LED lighting products?

This creates opportunities. According to government estimates, by 2020, the LED market will reach 200 billion rupees. We expect to occupy the market share of 5~10%.

Q4: what will you do to promote the growth of LED lighting products?

A: we have been very successful in the manufacture of flashlights. So, in the lighting industry, we will use the same model. Most of the lighting industry products will be in the form of outsourcing. However, all battery operations will be made internally.

Q5: what does this mean for Eveready if the lighting business replaces the battery business as your company's biggest source of revenue?

A: at present, the battery business is still the company's main source of income. Until last year, the battery business and flashlight business revenue accounted for nearly 100% of the company's total profit. Last year, the company's lighting business to maintain breakeven, and now has been profitable. As we enter the LED industry, the company's profit growth. If the LED led the development of the lighting industry (now is the case), then the company's bottom line will also be improved.

Q6:LED, what's your next challenge?

A: only LED has great potential. We are currently focused on strengthening the distribution network and other products in this part. In the long run, we want to have our own products like PHILPS or Havells.
